Job Overview
Rainbow is offering a permanent opportunity for an experienced Ultra-heavy Motor Vehicle Driver based in Worcester. The role involves the safe and efficient transportation of goods to various clients while ensuring full compliance with road safety regulations and company standards.
This position is ideal for a disciplined and reliable Code EC driver with strong experience in handling ultra-heavy vehicles and delivering excellent service.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Grade 12 / Matric / Senior Certificate
- Minimum Grade 10 literacy (verbal and numerical)
- Valid Code EC (Code 14) driver’s licence
- Valid PrDP (DGP)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience driving ultra-heavy vehicles
- Must be 25 years or older
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
- Clean driving record and clear criminal record
Key Skills and Knowledge
The ideal candidate should have:
- Strong understanding of defensive driving techniques
- Knowledge of vehicle components and basic mechanical awareness
- Ability to follow emergency and defect reporting procedures
- Experience conducting vehicle inspections and using safety equipment (e.g. fire extinguishers)
- Knowledge of load securing and vehicle loading techniques
- Ability to maximise vehicle efficiency and reduce operational costs
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Preparing the vehicle for trips and operating ultra-heavy vehicles safely
- Loading, transporting, and offloading goods efficiently
- Handling all relevant documentation accurately
- Following instructions from supervisors and supporting operational requirements
- Maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle, uniform, and PPE
- Complying with SOPs and all safety procedures
Additional responsibilities include:
- Ensuring the vehicle is not overloaded in accordance with the National Road Traffic Act
- Securing loads properly before departure
- Operating or overseeing offloading processes
- Opening and closing tarpaulins where required
- Providing professional and efficient customer service
Compliance and Assessments
Successful candidates will be required to complete:
- Medical evaluation
- USCS training modules
- Induction programme
- Practical driving assessment
- Criminal record verification
