Job Overview

An opportunity has become available for a high-calibre Ultra-Heavy Motor Vehicle Driver to safely transport and distribute goods to various clients. The successful candidate will operate ultra-heavy vehicles in line with company procedures, safety standards, and the National Road Traffic Act.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Minimum Grade 10 literacy level (verbally and numerically literate)
• Valid Code EC (Code 14) driver’s licence
• Valid PrDP (DGP)
• Minimum 3 years’ experience driving an ultra-heavy motor vehicle
• Must be 25 years or older
• Defensive driving skills
• Knowledge of vehicle components and their functions
• Ability to conduct vehicle inspections and operate a fire extinguisher
• Knowledge of emergency and defect reporting procedures
• Understanding of vehicle loading techniques
• Clean criminal record
• Medically fit
• Willing to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
• Must reside in Pretoria

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepare vehicles for trips and ensure roadworthiness before departure
• Operate ultra-heavy duty vehicles safely and efficiently
• Load, transport, and offload goods in accordance with company procedures
• Ensure loads are properly secured before departure
• Open and close tarpaulins where required
• Ensure vehicles are not overloaded as per the National Road Traffic Act
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
• Handle all required documentation and ancillary duties accurately
• Maintain housekeeping standards for vehicles, PPE, and uniforms
• Report defects, incidents, and emergencies promptly
• Deal with customers in a professional and efficient manner
• Follow all reasonable instructions from the Supervisor
• Adhere strictly to SOPs, safety rules, and company policies
