Job Overview

An opportunity has become available for a high-calibre Ultra-Heavy Motor Vehicle Driver to safely transport and distribute goods to various clients within the EPOL Pretoria outbound operation. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong safety awareness, sound driving experience, and the ability to operate within a high-volume distribution environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare vehicles for trips and operate ultra-heavy motor vehicles safely and efficiently
• Load, transport, and offload goods in accordance with company procedures
• Ensure loads are secured and not overloaded in line with the National Road Traffic Act
• Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report defects or emergencies promptly
• Operate or oversee offloading equipment where required
• Open and close tarpaulins where applicable
• Handle all trip, delivery, and compliance documentation accurately
• Maintain housekeeping standards for vehicles, uniform, and PPE
• Adhere strictly to SOPs, safety policies, and operational procedures
• Follow all reasonable instructions from the Supervisor
• Work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as operationally required
• Deal with customers in a professional and efficient manner

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 / Matric / Senior Certificate
• Grade 10 literacy level (verbally and numerically literate)
• Valid Code EC driver’s licence
• Valid PrDP (DGP – Dangerous Goods Permit)
• Minimum 3 years’ experience driving an ultra-heavy motor vehicle
• Must be 25 years of age or older
• Clean driving and criminal record
• Medically fit and safety focused

Required Knowledge & Competencies

• Defensive driving techniques
• Knowledge of vehicle components and operating systems
• Emergency and defect reporting procedures
• Vehicle inspection processes and fire extinguisher operation
• Vehicle loading techniques
• Cost-effective and fuel-efficient driving practices

Assessments & Compliance

The successful candidate must successfully complete:

• Medical evaluation
• USCS training modules
• Company induction processes
• Practical driving evaluation
• Criminal record verification
