Job Overview

A career opportunity exists for a high-calibre Ultra-Heavy Motor Vehicle Driver to safely transport and distribute chemical goods. This role requires strong experience with ultra-heavy vehicles, a professional approach to customer service, and a commitment to strict safety and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare vehicles for trips and safely operate ultra-heavy motor vehicles
  • Load, transport, and offload goods according to operational and safety requirements
  • Ensure loads are correctly secured and not overloaded as per the National Road Traffic Act
  • Operate or oversee offloading equipment when required
  • Open and close tarpaulins where applicable
  • Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report defects or emergencies promptly
  • Handle trip, delivery, and compliance documentation accurately
  • Maintain housekeeping of vehicles, uniform, and PPE
  • Liaise professionally with customers, depots, and supervisors
  • Adhere strictly to SOPs, safety procedures, and chemical handling regulations
  • Follow all reasonable instructions from the Supervisor
  • Work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric / Senior Certificate
  • Grade 10 literacy level (verbally and numerically literate)
  • Valid Code EC driver’s licence
  • Valid PrDP (DGP – Dangerous Goods Permit) and passport
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience driving ultra-heavy vehicles
  • Must be 25 years or older
  • Clean driving and criminal record
  • Medically fit and safety focused

Knowledge & Competencies

  • Defensive driving techniques
  • Vehicle components and operating systems
  • Emergency and defect reporting procedures
  • Vehicle inspection and fire extinguisher operation
  • Load securing techniques and cost-efficient driving
  • Knowledge of hazardous goods transport regulations

Assessments & Compliance

Successful candidates must complete:

  • Medical evaluation
