Job Overview

An opportunity has become available for an experienced Ultra-Heavy Motor Vehicle Driver to safely transport and distribute chemical products to various clients. The role requires a strong safety mindset, proven experience in acid and dangerous goods transport, and professional customer interaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare vehicles for trips and safely operate ultra-heavy motor vehicles
• Load, transport, and offload chemical products in compliance with safety standards
• Ensure loads are securely fastened and not overloaded in line with the National Road Traffic Act
• Operate or oversee offloading equipment where required
• Open and close tarpaulins when applicable
• Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report defects or emergencies immediately
• Accurately complete all trip, delivery, and compliance documentation
• Maintain housekeeping standards for vehicles, PPE, and uniform
• Liaise professionally with customers, depots, and authorities
• Adhere strictly to SOPs, safety procedures, and chemical handling regulations
• Follow all reasonable instructions from the Supervisor
• Work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as operationally required

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 / Matric / Senior Certificate
• Grade 10 literacy level (verbally and numerically literate)
• Valid Code EC driver’s licence
• Valid PrDP (DGP – Dangerous Goods Permit)
• Minimum 3 years’ experience driving ultra-heavy vehicles
• Mandatory acid transport experience, including:
  • Nitric Acid
  • Sulphuric Acid
  • Caustic
  • ANS
  • Ammonia
  • Phosphoric Acid
  • Ammonia Gas
• Must be 25 years of age or older
• Clean driving and criminal record
• Medically fit and safety focused

Knowledge & Competencies

• Defensive driving techniques
• Vehicle systems and component knowledge
• Emergency and defect reporting procedures
• Vehicle inspections and fire extinguisher operation
• Load securing and vehicle efficiency techniques
• Sound knowledge of dangerous goods and hazardous materials regulations

Assessments & Compliance

Successful candidates will be required to complete:

• Medical evaluation
• USCS training modules
• Company induction programme
• Practical driving assessment
• Criminal record verification
