Job Overview

An opportunity has arisen for a high-calibre SHERQ Coordinator to oversee and coordinate Safety, Health, Environment, Risk, and Quality (SHERQ) activities across the operation. The successful candidate will liaise closely with clients, ensure alignment with their SHEQ requirements and protocols, and be responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of an integrated SHEQ management system within the transport and logistics environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate all SHEQ activities across operational sites
  • Ensure effective implementation of safety, health, environmental, risk, and quality systems
  • Develop, implement, and maintain integrated SHEQ management systems
  • Implement and maintain ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 / OHSAS 18001, and BB GAP standards
  • Develop SHEQ procedures, templates, and standardised documentation
  • Ensure standardisation and SHEQ compliance across all sites
  • Conduct monthly safety inspections and operational compliance audits
  • Perform risk assessments as required
  • Assist the Contract Manager with internal and external audit preparation
  • Participate in audits and log, track, and close out audit findings
  • Maintain and update SHEQ notice boards
  • Compile and present monthly SHEQ statistics and reports
  • Capture and manage incidents, accidents, inspections, and audit data on the Entropy system
  • Conduct accident and incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are implemented
  • Review driver matrices (training, medicals, working hours, and driving hours)
  • Ensure housekeeping standards comply with legal, company, and contract requirements
  • Monitor and manage customer SHEQ performance measurements
  • Coordinate SHEQ training with the Training Department in line with customer requirements
  • Conduct toolbox talks, safety stand-downs, and DriveCam coaching

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric / Grade 12 plus a 3-year SHEQ Diploma
  • Strong MS Office proficiency with excellent administrative skills
  • Sound knowledge of:
    • ISO 45001 / OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001
    • COID Act
    • Relevant Road Traffic Legislation
    • SANS Standards
  • Solid understanding of accident and incident investigation processes
  • Ability to work independently under pressure and meet contract deadlines
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to promote teamwork and motivation
  • Fairly good knowledge of the transport industry (advantageous)
  • Entropy system knowledge will be an added advantage
