Job Overview

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Petroleum Tanker Driver to operate ultra-heavy motor vehicles exceeding 25,000 kg GVM/GCM within the petroleum division. The role requires a disciplined and safety-focused driver with proven fuel transport experience and a strong understanding of dangerous goods regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare tanker vehicles for daily trips in line with operational requirements
  • Operate ultra-heavy petroleum tanker vehicles safely and efficiently
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
  • Take full responsibility for the roadworthiness of the vehicle prior to departure
  • Load, transport, and deliver petroleum products safely to customers
  • Ensure accurate handling of all dispatch, delivery, and return documentation
  • Account for all fuel and goods transported to customers
  • Adhere strictly to Dangerous Goods, road traffic, and company safety regulations
  • Work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required
  • Follow all reasonable instructions from the Supervisor

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric / NQF Level 4
  • Grade 10 / NQF Level 2 (minimum literacy requirement)
  • Valid Code EC driver’s licence
  • Valid PrDP (D – Dangerous Goods) where required
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Petroleum Tanker Driver
  • Proven safe driving record
  • Clean criminal record

Required Knowledge & Competencies

  • Ultra-heavy vehicle operation (25,000 kg and above)
  • Dangerous Goods handling and compliance
  • Vehicle inspection and defect reporting procedures
  • Defensive driving techniques
  • Fuel transport documentation and compliance controls
  • High awareness of safety, risk, and environmental responsibility
