Job Purpose

The Driver will be responsible for the safe, reliable, and timeous transportation of patients, staff, and resources while complying with all applicable road traffic legislation, hospital policies, and patient safety standards.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

Grade 12 or equivalent qualification (essential)
Valid Code 10 Driver’s Licence
Valid PDP (Professional Driving Permit)
No licence or permit infringements will be accepted
Minimum 2 years’ driving experience in a similar role

Key Responsibilities

Conduct daily pre-trip vehicle inspections to ensure compliance with the National Road Traffic Act
Report all vehicle defects and maintenance requirements to the Fleet Manager
Maintain and complete daily logbooks and inspection sheets accurately
Transport patients, employees, and hospital resources safely and efficiently
Prioritise transport requests to optimise time management and fuel efficiency
Ensure vehicles are parked in secure company facilities, locked, and keys stored safely
Ensure vehicles are refuelled ahead of weekends and public holidays
Conduct daily checks to ensure all vehicle and transport equipment is functioning correctly
Maintain a clean, neat, and presentable vehicle at all times

High level of safety awareness, particularly in patient transport
Good time management and route planning skills
Ability to work independently and follow instructions
Respect for confidentiality and patient dignity
