Job Purpose
The Driver Instructor will support transport operations by conducting Code 14 driver assessments, onboarding, and continuous driver training across the supply chain. This role works directly with drivers both on-site and on the road, focusing on safe, compliant, and efficient driving practices.
The position plays a key role in improving driver behaviour, fuel efficiency, vehicle performance, and overall fleet standards, while providing accurate assessments and reports to support recruitment and driver development decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct Code 14 driver assessments during recruitment and onboarding processes
- Deliver hands-on driver training, coaching, and mentoring
- Provide on-road and classroom-based training focused on safety, compliance, and vehicle handling
- Support and coach learnership drivers and newly onboarded drivers
- Identify unsafe driving behaviours and implement corrective coaching interventions
- Address fuel consumption issues through driver behaviour analysis and targeted training
- Complete detailed driver assessments and provide clear feedback reports
- Support consistent fleet driving standards and operational discipline
- Work closely with transport and supply chain teams to improve fleet performance
Minimum Qualifications
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Valid Code 14 driver’s licence
- Valid PrDP
- Assessor / Facilitator Certificate (advantageous)
Experience Requirements
- Proven experience as a Code 14 Driver Trainer / Instructor (essential)
- Excellent driving record
- Practical experience working with professional and learnership drivers
