Job Overview
Langeberg Municipality is looking for a reliable and hardworking Driver / General Worker to support the Parks & Amenities department. This role combines driving duties with hands-on operational work, including transporting personnel and assisting with maintenance tasks using specialised equipment.
This is ideal for candidates who are not just drivers, but are also comfortable working on-site and supporting teams in municipal service delivery.
Minimum Requirements
- 1–2 years’ relevant work experience
- Valid Code C1 driver’s licence with PDP
- Knowledge of machinery such as:
- Lawnmowers
- Brush cutters
- Chainsaws
- Physically fit and willing to assist with manual work
Advantageous:
- Experience operating a tractor or digger loader
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate municipal vehicles (bakkies, trucks)
- Transport staff and equipment to various work sites
- Assist team members with operational and maintenance tasks
- Ensure vehicles are roadworthy before every trip
- Follow all road safety regulations and traffic laws
- Maintain proper driving behaviour and vehicle control
- Support service delivery within the Parks & Amenities department
Vehicle Safety Duties
- Conduct pre-trip inspections and ensure vehicle safety
- Adhere to all road signs, signals, and markings
- Ensure safe transport of passengers and equipment
- Continuously improve driving habits and safety awareness
- Maintain high standards of accuracy and responsibility
