Premier is looking to appoint a reliable and experienced Extra Heavy Driver to join the Depot team at the Cape Town Mill. This role is critical to ensuring uninterrupted product flow through safe, disciplined, and on-time deliveries in a high-demand FMCG environment.

Job Purpose

To operate extra-heavy vehicles efficiently and safely, ensuring on-time, in-full (OTIF) deliveries while maintaining vehicle standards, complying with SOPs, and supporting depot operations through professional conduct and accountability.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure on-time and in-full delivery of goods according to delivery schedules
• Operate extra-heavy vehicles safely and responsibly in line with company standards
• Maintain high standards of truck housekeeping, cleanliness, and roadworthiness
• Ensure all incidents and accidents are reported accurately and timeously
• Manage Proof of Delivery (POD) documentation and ensure correct sign-off
• Adhere strictly to safe working practices, SOPs, and depot procedures
• Comply with all road traffic legislation and internal safety requirements
• Work collaboratively with depot staff, controllers, and other drivers
• Perform duties during night shifts, overtime, weekends, and public holidays as operationally required

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 with strong numerical ability
• Basic PC literacy
• Valid driver’s licence for extra-heavy vehicles (as per operational requirement)

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years’ professional driving experience, preferably in an FMCG or distribution environment

Working Conditions

• Standard 5-day work week
• Required to work overtime, including night shifts, after-hours, weekends, and public holidays, based on operational needs
