Brights Hardware is seeking a suitably qualified Code 14 Driver to join its Building division in Bellville. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, accurate, and on-time delivery of goods, while providing excellent customer service and supporting branch operations. This role is critical in maintaining customer satisfaction, supporting sales, and contributing to the company’s sustainable growth.

Job Purpose

To ensure goods are delivered in good condition, on time, and in line with customer expectations. The role involves interacting with customers and internal branches, overseeing loading and offloading, maintaining vehicle roadworthiness, and upholding high service standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver goods accurately and timeously while maintaining excellent customer service
• Complete daily trip sheets, including opening and closing kilometres, and departure and arrival times
• Conduct daily pre-trip vehicle inspections to ensure basic roadworthy standards and record findings
• Report vehicle defects to the Supervisor and complete vehicle repair reports
• Ensure truck assistants remain with the vehicle at all times
• Plan and use the most efficient delivery routes
• Verify that all outgoing stock has the correct documentation before loading
• Record all transfer documents in the logbook and ensure receiving branches sign for stock
• Ensure all stock is delivered in excellent condition
• Submit weekly evaluation reports to the Supervisor
• Report any branch delays to the Supervisor
• Report to the Supervisor at the end of each working day
• Participate in perpetual stock takes
• Carry out any reasonable work-related tasks as delegated

Crane Operator Responsibilities

• Operate the crane safely to lift and move heavy loads
• Inspect the crane before use to ensure it is in good working condition
• Ensure safe loading, unloading, and movement of materials
• Assist with positioning of loads and make adjustments where necessary
• Perform daily checks and minor maintenance on crane equipment
• Comply with all safety protocols and standard operating procedures

Minimum Requirements

• Matric or equivalent qualification
• Candidates without Matric but with a valid licence and at least 3 years’ driving experience will be considered
• Minimum of 3 years’ driving experience
• Valid Code 14 driver’s licence
• Valid PDP (Goods and Passengers)
• Willingness to operate a crane
• Proven crane operating experience will be an advantage (or willingness to obtain certification)
• Crane operation certification (advantageous)
