Job Purpose

The Driver is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of stock to customers according to the planned delivery schedule, while maintaining excellent customer service, strict safety compliance, and adherence to company standards, policies, and legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Delivery & Operations

  • Prepare vehicles and documentation for next day deliveries
  • Follow all start-up and delivery procedures
  • Conduct independent stock checks on the truck and sign off accordingly
  • Deliver stock to customers according to planned routes and schedules
  • Ensure accurate off-loading and delivery execution
  • Return to the depot within the specified timeframe
  • Ensure all delivery documentation is signed, consolidated, and returned in full

Customer Service

  • Provide professional and courteous service to all customers
  • Uphold and live the company’s values during all customer interactions
  • Keep customers informed about delivered stock and off-loading progress
  • Maintain constant communication with the Distribution Controller / Expeditor
  • Provide feedback on deliveries and report any delays immediately

Safety, Health & Environment (SHE)

  • Maintain a safe, healthy, and risk-free working environment
  • Comply with all Safety, Health, and Environmental policies and legislation
  • Complete pre-trip inspections before every trip
  • Report all non-compliant inspection items to management
  • Practice Green Band driving at all times
  • Follow the Truck Lock-Out Procedure during all loading processes
  • Obey all road traffic laws and regulations
  • Ensure vehicles are clean, roadworthy, and presentable

Minimum Requirements

  • Valid driver’s licence relevant to the vehicle class
  • Proven experience in delivery driving, preferably within FMCG or supply chain
  • Strong understanding of road safety regulations
  • Good communication skills
  • Customer-focused mindset
  • Ability to work independently and follow delivery schedules accurately
