Job Overview
TWK Agri has an exciting permanent opportunity for a Qualified Diesel Mechanic to join its Standerton Mechanisation team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the diagnosis, repair, servicing, and maintenance of agricultural diesel equipment, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and reliability.
This role suits a hands-on mechanic who understands that downtime in agriculture costs money, and that precision, accountability, and proper documentation are non-negotiable.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults on agricultural diesel equipment
- Strip, repair, reassemble, and test machinery following repairs
- Conduct operational testing and make final adjustments to equipment
- Examine machinery, review inspection reports, and engage customers to identify faults
- Repair or replace defective components using hand tools, machines, welding equipment, grinders, or saws
- Test and replace electrical components and wiring using meters and soldering equipment
- Inspect parts to determine causes of failures or malfunctions
- Recommend product or component improvements based on practical observations and data
- Maintain workshop tools and test equipment in safe, operational condition
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on diagnostic equipment
- Complete all job-related documentation daily, including worksheets, certificates, receipts, and required signatures
- Inspect equipment for safety compliance before release or use
- Perform basic preventative maintenance tasks where required
Minimum Requirements
- Matric / Grade 12
- Qualified Diesel Mechanic (Trade Tested)
- Computer literacy (job cards, diagnostics, reporting)
- Proven experience working on agricultural equipment
- Experience on New Holland tractors (advantageous)
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet turnaround times
