Job Overview

homechoice, one of South Africa's leading homeware retailers, is looking for a reliable and customer-focused Delivery Driver to join its Warehouse team in Cape Town. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, accurate, and timely delivery of products to customers while maintaining exceptional service standards and ensuring compliance with road safety and company procedures.

This role is ideal for an experienced Code 10 driver with delivery and warehouse experience who enjoys working with customers and takes pride in providing excellent service.

Key Responsibilities

Delivery Operations

• Safely operate a Code 10 (C1) vehicle in accordance with road traffic legislation and company policies.
• Assist with loading vehicles and ensure goods are secured correctly before departure.
• Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Plan and execute delivery routes efficiently to meet customer delivery schedules.
• Maintain communication with the Distribution Supervisor regarding deliveries, delays, incidents, and customer feedback.
• Ensure compliance with vehicle load limits and company safety requirements.
• Maintain a clean driving record and professional driving standards.
• Support warehouse operations and perform additional duties when required.

Administration and Compliance

• Verify delivery documentation and loaded stock before departure.
• Complete vehicle inspection reports, logbooks, gate registers, and fleet documentation accurately.
• Obtain proof of delivery and maintain accurate customer records.
• Ensure all transport and delivery activities comply with company safety, quality, and security standards.
• Maintain records relating to vehicle maintenance and compliance requirements.

Customer Service

• Deliver professional and courteous service during all customer interactions.
• Resolve customer delivery queries in line with company procedures.
• Escalate delivery discrepancies and customer concerns to management.
• Promote customer satisfaction through reliable and efficient service.
• Represent the homechoice brand professionally at all times.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 11 (Standard 9) or higher.
• Valid South African Code 10 (C1) Driver’s Licence.
• Valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP/PDP).
• Minimum 2 years' experience in a delivery, logistics, or distribution environment.
• Minimum 1 year warehouse or related operational experience.
• Knowledge of the Road Traffic Act and safe driving practices.
• Ability to read maps and plan delivery routes effectively.
• Clear criminal record.
• Willingness to work weekends, overtime, and flexible hours when required.
• Willingness to undergo random drug screening.
