Job Description
Econo Foods is looking for an experienced and professional Code 14 Delivery Driver to join its logistics team in Kimberley.
The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating an assigned truck, conducting vehicle inspections, ensuring goods are delivered accurately and on time, maintaining delivery documentation and providing excellent customer service.
This role is suitable for an experienced driver who is safety-conscious, reliable and comfortable working in a fast-paced FMCG retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Safely operating the assigned delivery vehicle.
- Conducting daily pre-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is roadworthy.
- Ensuring goods are delivered accurately, safely and on time.
- Maintaining accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption and deliveries.
- Completing and managing delivery receipts and related documentation.
- Reporting accidents, incidents and vehicle defects.
- Reporting mechanical problems and maintenance requirements promptly.
- Maintaining a clean, organised and professional vehicle.
- Ensuring all necessary equipment and delivery documents are available.
- Communicating professionally with customers, warehouse staff and other stakeholders.
- Responding to delivery-related questions and concerns professionally.
- Complying with company policies and procedures.
- Following all applicable road traffic laws and regulations.
- Using the required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Promoting a safe working environment and maintaining high safety standards.
- Attending meetings, coaching sessions and training programmes.
- Supporting the logistics team in achieving operational goals.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 / Matric certificate or equivalent qualification.
- Valid Code 14 (EC) or Code 10 driver's licence.
- Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
- At least 3–5 years of driving experience.
- Experience in the FMCG or retail industry will be advantageous.
- Good written and verbal English communication skills.
- Basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft applications.
