Purpose of the Role

The Delivery Driver (Code 14) will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods, ensuring accurate and on-time deliveries while maintaining high standards of safety, compliance, and customer service. The role plays a critical part in supporting smooth logistics operations and upholding the Econo Foods brand at customer level.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate a Code 14 truck in accordance with traffic laws and company policies
• Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness
• Deliver goods accurately, efficiently, and within scheduled timeframes
• Maintain accurate records including mileage, fuel usage, delivery documentation, and incident reports
• Communicate professionally with customers, warehouse staff, and internal stakeholders
• Report mechanical faults, breakdowns, or maintenance requirements promptly
• Ensure the vehicle is kept clean, organised, and stocked with required documentation and equipment
• Adhere strictly to safety standards and make use of required PPE at all times
• Comply with company procedures, code of conduct, and regulatory requirements
• Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and coaching initiatives
• Contribute positively towards team performance and operational targets

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent
• Minimum of 3–5 years proven driving experience (FMCG experience will be an advantage)
• Valid Code 14 (EC) driver’s licence
• Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP)
