Job Description
Air Products South Africa is looking for an experienced and qualified Cylinder Truck Driver / HP Operator to join its team in KwaZulu-Natal.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe delivery and collection of liquid and gaseous products in cylinders, Minitanks and Maxitanks from customer sites and company facilities.
The role also involves high-pressure cylinder filling and requires strict compliance with company procedures, safety standards and dangerous goods legislation.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Conducting daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Safely delivering and collecting gas cylinders, Minitanks and Maxitanks.
- Ensuring the safe and efficient loading and offloading of cylinders.
- Operating a forklift where required.
- Carrying out high-pressure cylinder filling.
- Completing all required paperwork and administrative documentation accurately.
- Completing vehicle fitness and inspection reports.
- Maintaining compliance with SHERQ standards.
- Following all company procedures and applicable dangerous goods legislation.
- Performing general and ad hoc duties when required.
- Maintaining high standards of safety when transporting hazardous and dangerous goods.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Matric / Grade 12 Senior Certificate with Mathematics and Science.
- Valid and unendorsed Code EC (Code 14) driver's licence.
- Valid PrDP – Dangerous Goods classification.
- Current Dangerous Goods Transportation certification.
- Valid and current Forklift Licence.
- Minimum of 5 years' heavy-duty driving experience, preferably within the gas, chemicals or related industry.
- Between 2 and 5 years' experience in a plant or process environment.
- Must be physically fit and meet Road Traffic requirements for dangerous goods transportation.
- Must pass the required Psychomotor Testing and Air Products internal written and practical assessments.
- Clear criminal record.
- Willingness to work shifts and overtime.
- Willingness to travel and drive long distances when required.
- Own reliable transport.

- Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Strong reporting and administrative skills.
- Ability to complete procedural forms accurately.
- Ability to compile vehicle fitness and inspection reports.
- Strong safety awareness.
- Good attention to detail.
