Purpose of the Role:
The driver will be responsible for the safe, compliant and efficient delivery and collection of materials to and from customers and sites, reporting directly to the Branch Manager. The successful candidate will help ensure deliveries are completed accurately and on schedule while maintaining high safety and service standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-trip vehicle inspections and complete inspection sheets to verify roadworthiness before departure.
• Report vehicle defects, accidents or issues to the Branch Manager immediately.
• Ensure trucks comply with weight and height restrictions, especially for bridges and tunnels.
• Plan and navigate delivery routes efficiently to meet schedule commitments.
• Load stock according to log sheets and confirm it matches delivery notes in coordination with the operations team.
• Collect customer signatures as proof of delivery and ensure all delivery documentation is submitted accurately.
• Communicate effectively with clients to resolve delivery queries or complaints.
• Maintain the delivery vehicle in a clean and serviceable condition.
• Keep records of vehicle service needs and advise the Operations Manager accordingly.
• Report any delivery-related problems promptly to the Operations Manager.
• Comply with all safety, security and transport regulations throughout daily operations.

Minimum Requirements

• Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent qualification – essential.
• Valid Code 14 driver’s licence – essential.
• Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP) – essential.
• Hazchem certificate – required due to material handling responsibilities.
• Proven experience working as a truck driver (demonstrable delivery experience preferred).
• Ability to handle dangerous goods in accordance with safety requirements.
• Familiarity with GPS navigation, AVL or similar route-planning technology.
• Knowledge of warehouse processes and relevant safety standards for protective clothing.
• Valid passport – desirable (not mandatory).
