A well-established grocery retailer is seeking experienced Code 14 (EC) Drivers to join its distribution team in Durban North. This is a permanent opportunity for disciplined, safety-focused drivers who understand the importance of on-time delivery, vehicle care, and teamwork in a fast-moving FMCG environment.

Job Purpose

To transport goods safely and efficiently to customers, ensuring accurate deliveries, compliance with road and safety regulations, and professional representation of the business at all times.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct daily vehicle inspections and safety checks before departure
• Deliver goods on time and to the correct destinations
• Load, unload, and secure goods to prevent damage during transit
• Verify delivery instructions and quantities of loaded goods
• Obtain proof of delivery and ensure all documentation is signed off
• Maintain accurate records of invoices, fuel slips, and working hours
• Monitor tyre pressure in line with vehicle load requirements
• Report vehicle defects, road incidents, accidents, and traffic violations immediately
• Ensure the vehicle is kept clean, roadworthy, and safely maintained
• Maintain a valid driver’s licence and ensure the vehicle licence disc is current and visible
• Drive responsibly, complying with all traffic laws and company safety standards

Minimum Requirements

• Matric certificate
• Valid Code 14 (EC) driver’s licence
• Valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP)
• Proven experience as a Code 14 truck driver
• Clear criminal record
• Reside within 25 km of Durban North

Preferences (Advantageous)

• South African citizens
• Candidates between 18 and 65 years of age
• Experience on long-distance routes
• Familiarity with different truck brands and gearbox types
• Experience using GPS and navigation systems

Assessments

• Shortlisted candidates may be required to complete a Work Performance Assessment Battery and undergo regular health and fitness checks to ensure compliance with long-distance driving standards.
