Dis-Chem’s KZN Distribution Centre in New Germany has an opportunity available for an experienced Code 10 Driver. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering goods to stores and customers efficiently, safely and in line with company quality standards.

Minimum Requirements

Essential:

• Grade 12 (Matric) or Senior Certificate
• Valid Code 10 driver’s licence
• Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP)
• 2–5 years’ experience as a driver

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure correct products are delivered to the correct store/customer on time
• Follow the most efficient route to and from delivery locations
• Offload goods safely to prevent damage
• Secure all shipments and equipment properly after deliveries
• Maintain professional conduct when dealing with customers
• Report customer queries, complaints and delivery issues to management
• Ensure the vehicle is never left unattended during deliveries
• Keep the vehicle clean and in good condition
• Conduct vehicle inspections before, during and after trips
• Report all defects, accidents or incidents immediately
• Adhere strictly to road traffic laws and company policies
• Take responsibility for any traffic fines incurred
• Manage and safeguard the allocated fuel card
• Record and report discrepancies in delivery documentation accurately

Competencies

• Strong knowledge of South African road rules and regulations
• Problem-solving ability and sound judgement on escalation procedures
• Good customer service skills
• Ability to follow procedures accurately
• Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
• Computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)

Special Conditions of Employment

• South African citizen
• Clear criminal record (MIE verification) and clear credit record
• Valid Code 10 driver’s licence with PDP
• Own reliable transport
