Grain Field Chickens, a subsidiary of the VKB Group, is a key player in South Africa’s integrated broiler industry, operating an abattoir in Reitz, North Eastern Free State. The business offers a professional, structured working environment in an agricultural setting and is seeking a Code 10 Driver: Disinfecting to support farm biosecurity operations.

Job Purpose

To travel daily to contract grower farms and independently carry out the disinfection of broiler houses in strict accordance with approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), contributing directly to animal health, food safety, and biosecurity compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Travel to various farms daily to perform disinfection of chicken broiler houses
• Disinfect broiler houses after washing, in line with approved disinfection SOPs
• Prepare disinfecting solutions by mixing approved chemicals at the correct dilution ratios
• Operate and maintain the disinfecting unit according to manufacturer instructions
• Ensure houses are prepared before disinfection (e.g. switching on fans)
• Take swabs after disinfecting each house and complete all required documentation and checklists
• Disinfect the vehicle and comply with on-site biosecurity requirements, including showering when required
• Secure chicken houses after disinfection to prevent unauthorised access
• Work independently, spending approximately 80–90% of the time on the road
• Engage professionally with Grain Field Chickens contract growers and internal stakeholders
• Follow all safety, hygiene, and biosecurity procedures from start to finish

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 equivalent
• Valid Code 10 driver’s licence with PDP
• Clear criminal record
• Ability to communicate effectively in English and Afrikaans
• Willingness to work overtime, including Saturdays and Sundays
