African Parks is seeking a professional and safety-conscious Bus Driver to support the Rhino Rewilding Project. The successful candidate will provide safe, reliable and timely transport for staff, donors, visitors and key stakeholders involved in conservation operations.

About the Organisation:

African Parks is a non-profit conservation organisation partnering with governments and communities to rehabilitate and manage protected areas. The organisation currently manages 23 national parks and protected areas across 13 African countries, covering over 20 million hectares.

Role Purpose:

The Bus Driver will ensure safe vehicle operation, strict compliance with road safety regulations and the comfort and wellbeing of passengers at all times. The role requires discretion, responsibility and a strong commitment to safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain the vehicle in a clean and roadworthy condition at all times
• Conduct routine inspections and monitor maintenance requirements
• Plan and follow the most efficient and appropriate travel routes
• Operate the vehicle only under a valid mission order when travelling outside the designated administrative area
• Perform regular checks on oil, fluids, cooling systems, brake fluid and battery levels
• Inform the Head of Service of routine maintenance requirements (e.g. oil changes, worn parts)
• Monitor the vehicle when parked, especially outside station areas or during maintenance
• Record mileage, fuel usage and all repair/maintenance activities
• Ensure passenger safety and report any risks such as fatigue, severe weather or night driving conditions
• Prepare and submit monthly vehicle condition and usage reports

Minimum Requirements:

• Grade 12 Certificate
• Valid C1 Driver’s Licence
• Valid Professional Driver’s Permit (PDP)
• Police Clearance Certificate
• Valid Medical Certificate
• Computer literacy
• Good physical health and endurance
