Job Purpose

To transport passengers safely, efficiently, and professionally using the City of Tshwane’s public transport infrastructure, ensuring reliable service delivery to commuters across designated routes.

Appointment Requirements

• Minimum Grade 10 qualification
• Relevant driving experience operating heavy motor vehicles
• Valid Code C, EC1 (04), EC or C1 (04) driver’s licence with a valid PrDP
• No criminal record
• Physically fit and in good health
• Willingness and ability to work shifts, weekends, overtime, and public holidays
• Must undergo a criminal record check and allow fingerprints to be taken by the Tshwane Metro Police Department (at own cost)

Primary Functions

• Ensure the safe transportation of passengers at all times
• Operate and manage the Automated Fare Collection (AFC) system, ensuring passengers tap in and out correctly
• Follow designated routes and schedules, or instructions as issued
• Perform special duty functions when required
• Comply with all traffic rules and regulations in terms of the National Road Traffic Act, 1996 (Act 93 of 1996) and other applicable legislation

Maintain working knowledge of the National Road Traffic Act and related regulations
