Job Overview
An opportunity has become available for a high-calibre Ultra-Heavy Motor Vehicle Driver within the Chemicals division. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe transportation and delivery of hazardous chemical products to various clients, in full compliance with safety regulations, company procedures, and the National Road Traffic Act.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare vehicles for trips and operate ultra-heavy motor vehicles safely and efficiently.
Load, transport, and offload hazardous chemical products.
Ensure loads are correctly secured and vehicles are not overloaded.
Operate or supervise offloading equipment where required.
Open and close tarpaulins when applicable.
Complete and manage all required trip documentation accurately.
Conduct vehicle inspections and report defects or emergencies according to procedures.
Maintain housekeeping standards for vehicle, uniform, and PPE.
Adhere strictly to SOPs, safety procedures, and defensive driving principles.
Deal with customers professionally and efficiently.
Carry out all reasonable instructions from the Supervisor.
Be prepared to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
Minimum Requirements
Grade 12 / Matric / Senior Certificate.
Minimum Grade 10 literacy (verbal and numerical).
Valid Code EC driver’s licence with valid PrDP (DGP).
Minimum 3 years’ experience driving an ultra-heavy motor vehicle.
Mandatory acid and hazardous chemical transport experience, including:
Nitric Acid
Sulphuric Acid
Caustic
ANS
Ammonia
Phosphoric Acid
Ammonia Gas
Must be 25 years of age or older.
Willingness to work weekends and public holidays.
Safe driving record and clean criminal record.
Technical Knowledge & Competencies
Defensive driving techniques.
Knowledge of vehicle components and functions.
Emergency and defect reporting procedures.
Vehicle inspections and fire extinguisher operation.
Vehicle loading techniques and load security.
Maximising vehicle cost-effectiveness and operational efficiency.
Medical & Compliance Requirements
