Driver (Code 10 – Hazchem & Warehouse Support)

We are seeking a responsible, safety-conscious and experienced Code 10 Driver to support operations within a production and warehouse environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe transportation of goods, stock movement between factory and warehouse, and supporting general warehouse and administrative functions, while ensuring full compliance with health, safety and quality standards.

This role is well suited to a driver with hazardous goods experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 or equivalent qualification
• Minimum 3 years’ professional driving experience
• Valid Code 10 (C1) driver’s licence with a valid PrDP
• Hazchem Certification
• Sound knowledge of safety requirements when transporting flammable, corrosive, acidic and alkaline goods
• Forklift Licence (highly advantageous)
• Clean driving record and clear criminal record
• Good knowledge of local routes, roads and neighbourhoods
• Strong communication skills with the ability to read, write and speak English proficiently
• Basic stock management skills, including counting and verification of quantities

Key Performance Areas

Technical & Operational Duties

• Conduct daily vehicle inspections and complete required checklists
• Follow daily work instructions issued by the Supervisor
• Perform shunting duties, transporting pallets, packaging and stock between factory and warehouse as required
• Verify that all documentation matches the goods being transported
• Collect and deliver paperwork between the warehouse and factory administration offices
• Collect packaging from designated storage facilities
• Assist with customer deliveries when required
• Safeguard company vehicles, tools and equipment
• Fuel the vehicle using the company petrol card and maintain all related slips and records
• Submit all completed documentation to administration timeously
• Monitor vehicle condition and report any mechanical or safety issues for rectification
• Assist with forklift stock movement, including loading and offloading
• Support packer and storeman duties as operationally required

Administration

• Maintain accurate records and documentation
• Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures, including quality control requirements

Health & Safety Management

• Ensure full compliance with Health and Safety legislation, company policies and procedures
• Wear required PPE at all designated times
• Operate vehicles, forklifts and equipment strictly in accordance with safety instructions
• Immediately report any safety risks, incidents or non-compliance to Health and Safety Officers

Working Conditions

• Based within production and warehouse environments
• Deliveries and collections within the greater Durban area
• Handling and movement of products and raw materials, including pallets and flow bins
• Mandatory PPE includes apron, goggles, respirator (if required) and gloves due to chemical exposure
• Normal working hours: 07h30 – 16h00
• Overtime may be required based on operational needs
